ASMC UTAH CHAPTER

Welcome to our Home page!

We currently have over 200 members, 50 of them are CDFM certified and many more have already passed some of the modules including the acquisition portion of those exams.  We have a committee organized to help you achieve your CDFM goals.

We hold a FABULOUS local PDI each year that is unmatched by any chapter our size.

We have a selfless community service committee and have donated many hours and dollars to causes that are dear to our hearts.

Our program committee organizes luncheons, social events, and training. New this year the chapter is sponsoring several members to attend the National PDI awarded through chapter participation and involvement. Also new this year, Early Careerist Program, where young professionals can obtain mentoring to help progress their careers.

We have a lot of great committees, lots of great events, lots of opportunities to learn and to mentor, and most of all we have a lot of fun.  Come join us!

Mini PDI – 15 March

You are officially invited to this year’s Mini Professional Development Institute (PDI). The event will take place on Wednesday, 15 March and be held at the Davis Conference Center. Our Mini PDI chairman, Doug Miller, has put together a fantastic lineup of speakers and events. This promises to be one of our best mini-PDI’s ever, and you won’t want to miss it! Doug has been making roadshows to many FM offices to showcase what we have in store for this year’s mini-PDI. But I wanted to make sure the announcement went out to all our chapter members.

We just nailed down our final speaker—Mr. Doug Bennett, the Acting Assistant Secretary of the Air Force Financial Management and Comptroller, has agree to speak to us. We are so excited to welcome him and several other top rated speakers including entertainer and keynote speaker Mr. Jason Hewlett. You can find more information about all our speakers and the agenda in the attached PowerPoint slides.

Please feel free to pass on this invitation to other in your office that may be interested in attending this awesome professional training event. The cost will be only $30 for members and $35 for non-members. That price includes a fabulous lunch where we have several entrée options to choose from. We ask that you register soon as seating will be limited and we have opened the event up to other organizations around the base. We must have your order form with your menu selection and payment NLT 6 March, but we encourage you to register early to secure your seat. Payment must be made by cash or check to Doug Miller in bldg. 1224 or Brad Thomson in bldg. 430. A payment order form is attached.

Finally, an event of this magnitude takes many hands to successfully host it. If you have any interest in helping Doug Miller, 801 777-8421, in the mini PDI committee (this could include introducing speakers, ushering, collecting registrations, set-up/take down, etc.) please let us know. Our Chapter

ASMC is the non-profit educational and professional organization for persons, military and civilian, involved in the overall field of military comptrollership. ASMC promotes the education and training of its members, and supports the development and advancement of the profession of military comptrollership. The society sponsors research, provides professional programs to keep members abreast of current issues and encourages the exchange of techniques and approaches.

Mission Statement: To promote education, training and professional development in all aspects of military comptrollership.

ASMC was established as the Society of Military Accountants and Statisticians in 1948 in San Antonio, TX, and was open only to active duty officers. Since then, ASMC has expanded to include all DoD and Coast Guard Financial Management personnel. In 1991 the national headquarters was opened in Alexandria, VA, and currently serves a growing professional society of 18,000 members.

Military comptrollership is defined as the professions of financial management in the Department of Defense and Coast Guard and includes the fields of:

  • Cost Analysis
  • Financial Management
  • Management Analysis
  • Program Analysis

  • Statistics
  • and many supporting activities
